“As part of Icon’s network improvement program, there is a specific requirement for a radio base station installation at this location.

“Mobiles can only work with a network of base stations in place where people want to use their mobile phones or other wireless devices. Without base stations, the mobile phones, and other devices we rely on simply won’t work.”

They have also addressed any health concerns that the public may have about a new mast and said: “All mobile operators must ensure that their radio base stations (also known as masts) are designed and built so that the public are not exposed to radiofrequency fields above the strict safety guidelines which govern and limit public exposure to electromagnetic fields.

“In fact, base stations operate at low levels, emitting levels of radio waves many times lower than the guidelines.”
